how to feel good in your body.

Become aware of your thoughts when you look in the mirror. Identify if the things you are thinking are positive or negative. If they’re negative, don’t worry about changing them straight away but simply realising that you are thinking them is good enough. The next time you stand in front of a mirror, look at something that you love about yourself – something that makes you unique. Instead on focusing on your biggest insecurity whenever you look at your body, focus on the little things, like your freckles or the way your hair shines in the sunlight.

Food is fuel. Eat foods that you know will fill you up and give you a lot of energy. When your hunger needs are satisfied with the right nutrients you will also feel happier and calmer. If you constantly feed yourself unhealthy foods, your body will not be able to function properly and you would want to eat more shitty foods because they won’t satisfy you properly. Feeding yourself the right things is a part of self love. Eating healthy foods will help you feel good in your own body because you won’t feel any guilt – no regret or unhappiness. I can’t stress this enough.

Do I even need to explain this one?! Exercising is sooo so good for you! It has so many benefits like reducing the chances of many deceases, increasing endorphins levels which make you happier and energising you. Exercise has so many physicial as well as mental benefits! It gets you out of the house, clears your mind and may even give you the opportunity to meet new people (if you go gym – join classes it’s the most fun and bonding thing). “Looking good” is just a cherry at the top.

Actually take the moment to appreciate all the amazing things your body can do. Think about how every single cell in your body is working really hard to keep you alive. Be grateful for your limbs that allow you to walk and your eyes that allow you to see the beauty in this world. Start of small and you will soon realise how important and beautiful you body actually is.

I know that when I put some extra effort into the way I present myself, I tend to feel more confident. Dressing up for yourself can be so empowering. Spending that extra 10 minutes in the morning to do whatever will make you feel better can change your whole day. Dress comfortably and in whatever clothing style you love – if you dress to impress others you will constantly be worrying about the way you look and if other people accept you, whereas if you’re the only person you have to please, you will suddenly feel a huge relief.

Your physical appearance constantly changes. You practically become a new person every 7 years. Enjoy the body you have now because it will never be the same. Realise that physical appearance really doesn’t matter as much as we think it does. Instead – focus on the person you want to be not how you want to look. Work on your personality and growth. Focus on becoming kind and loving instead.

  1. I LOVE THIS I LOVE THIS I LOVE THIS! All of these are wonderful tips for loving your body; personally, the one that helped me most when I was mid-teens and going through all that angst was learning a bit more about biology and the LUCK that goes into your body functioning properly; some people’s bodies just give in randomly, some people are born with defects, some people don’t have the luxuries that my body gives me . . . xx
